Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a large bowl, mix together the honey, sugar, and melted butter until smooth.
    • Add the egg and milk, and mix until well combined.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
    • Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Shape and Bake the Hearts:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
    • Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the dough. Place the hearts on the prepared baking sheet.
    • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the hearts cool completely.
  3. Fill the Hearts:

    • Once the cookies are cooled, spread a thin layer of jam on the flat side of one heart and sandwich it with another heart.
  4. Coat with Chocolate:

    • In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate with the vegetable oil over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) or in the microwave in short intervals.
    • Dip each sandwiched heart into the melted chocolate, making sure to coat it evenly. Place the coated hearts on a wire rack or parchment paper to set.
  5. Serve:

    • Allow the chocolate to harden completely before serving. Store the Medeno Srce in an airtight container.
